RECIPE FOR SUCCESS

Client: Youda Creative

Deliverables: Logo, Wordmark, Brand Identity

Project Story: The client wanted something that stood out from the spotless, brushed-aluminum identities currently suffocating the creative space. Right on. But, neologisms can be a tricky place to start when undertaking an identity. A name that doesn’t yet signify anything pretty much dries up the creative well of preexisting images.

So, some fruitless experimenting with abstract shapes led us to abandon images. We decided to move towards a space where identities for made up names are boundless; rock n’ roll. Making this lane change opened up a whole world of possibility and pulling inspiration from such fantastic design like the word-marks for bands like Rush, Yes, and Ozzy we settled on something that felt chiseled from stone and has always existed. After styling the word-mark design with some indiscriminate texturing and a color palette inspired by mid-century machinery, you could practically peel the lead-based paint off the design yourself.
