Recipe for Success

Client: Small Hill Films

Deliverables: Logo, Identity, Brand Guidelines

Project Story: You’d expect an industry filled with this much technical knowledge even at the regional level to have some sharp brand identity, but I guess when everyone takes their style cues from Rick Rubin, things can get a little… unkempt.

Brand icon was inspired by the arterial and ubiquitous 1/4” audio cable. We wanted the identity to feel right at home amongst the rounded shapes and minimalist rectilinear of synth racks and mixing tables. So, pairing the icon with the Eurostile extended typeface featured on iconic gear like the Dunlop Fuzz Face pedal was a natural choice.

The highlight color of yellow/orange was chosen to catch the eye amongst the dark color and low-lighting of a recording space. You don’t want to wreck the mood, but you still need to find your headphones.
